THREE RIVERS — The Dowagiac golf team finished seventh in the final Wolverine Conference golf standings.

The Chieftains finished seventh at the conference tournament at Sauganash Golf Club Thursday.

Sturgis capped off its championship season by winning the conference tournament with a team score of 380. Otsego was a distant runner-up with a 421. Dowagiac shot 470.

Jessica Griffioen of Sturgis was the tournament medalist with a 92.

Dowagiac was led by Luda Dickson-French, who shot 112.

Senior Kelsey Smith earned honorable mention all-conference after shooting 114 Thursday.

“I was happy for the girls that were able to keep our position in seventh and get close to sixth,” Dowagiac coach Bob Turner said. “We have improved a lot. Ally (Hale) and Luda have worked hard at practice lately and have stayed late at practice to work on their game and it paid off for them today.”
