Escaped inmate in custody

The inmate who walked away from his work detail outside of Cass County Jail on Saturday has been apprehended, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

According to police, 20-year-old Jason Matthew Graham was arrested by deputies with the sheriff’s office around 7 p.m. Sunday, in the vicinity of Third and Broadway streets in Three Rivers. He was taken into custody without incident, and is currently lodged back in Cass County Jail.

Cass County officers were assisted by the Three Rivers Police Department and St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

Graham, an inmate worker held at the Cassopolis jailhouse, walked off from his work detail early Saturday evening. The man was serving time for a charge of obstruction of justice.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident.
