No students were injured in an accident that involved a Niles school bus and two other vehicles Monday morning on M-51.

A Cass County dispatcher said the accident occurred on M-51 near Pokagon Highway at 7:55 a.m.

The dispatcher said one person was injured in the vehicle that made contact with the bus.

Supt. Dan Applegate said no children were injured on the bus, which was heading south on M-51 and transporting students to Howard-Ellis Elementary.

“After the accident, which does not appear to be the fault of the bus driver, proper protocols were followed by the transportation staff, including having the children evaluated for injuries by authorized personnel on the scene, contacting student families to inform them of the accident and dispatching another bus to take the children to school,” Applegate said.
