Mark Conrad is a member of the Brandywine tennis team.

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

MC: Losing regionals last year at No. 2 doubles.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

MC: Going to state for tennis and winning matches there. I never thought I would even come close to winning.

What has been a hardship in your life?

MC: Overcoming school. I’m not the best student, but I still get good grades.

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

MC: My mom because no matter what I do she is always there for me and supports me for every decision I make.

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

MC: I am most nervous when it comes down to if I win we as a team win, but if I lose we lose.

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

MC: When I was pitching in a baseball game and I fell down and gave up a homerun.

How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?

MC: I don’t work out or train by myself. I train with other players.

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

MC: I would compete in football if I wasn’t playing tennis.

Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?

MC: My mom is my biggest fan. She is always there for almost any event no matter what time and where its at she will try to be there.

How would you give away $50,000?

MC: I would give it to my church’s charity. It helps build wells in Africa for cities to have fresh clean water.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

MC: Dallas Cowboys.

If I did not play sports, I would…?

MC: I would have a job and play video games.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

MC: The most challenging thing in my sport is the running around. I have bad knees and ankles so it’s hard.

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

MC: If I were to change one rule about tennis it would be nothing because tennis is amazing just the way it is.

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

MC: Your two singles player doesn’t have the technique, but he plays like a junk yard dog.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

MC: I had to do was stay and house sit a house that was on a road that was supposed to be haunted. Yes I’m glad I did it because I got paid good money.

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

MC: I saw my buddy Nathan Hechtl come back from knees injuries to play football again.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

MC: Playing tennis and all other sports with my friends.
