Dowagiac scored four first half goals en route to a 5-1 non-conference soccer victory against visiting Brandywine Thursday.

Gage Williams had two goals and an assist for the Chieftains, who led 4-0 at halftime.

Antonio Brito also had two goals for Dowagiac, which improved to 5-1 on the season.

Colin Carpenter had the Chieftains’ other goal. Chance Wernlund, Nick Carpenter and Edgar Bravo all had assists.

Brandywine’s lone goal came from Eddy Mugenzi in the second half.

The Chieftains outshot the Bobcats 24-8.

“We moved the ball real well and were really aggressive to the goal in the first half,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “The second half we were trying too hard score instead of possessing the ball and creating space making it easier to score. The boys are working really hard and we are seeing improvement everyday.”
