A growing company that caters to campgrounds is about to move into the Gallery Building in downtown Niles.

On Monday, the Niles City Council agreed to give Niles-based UltraCamp the vacant Gallery Building, located at 127 E. Main St., in exchange for eight parcels of land UltraCamp owns behind the YMCA near Plym Park in Niles.

UltraCamp purchased the land about three years ago with the hope of constructing on it a $1.2 million office building. However, the owner of the company said they had trouble getting enough financing to make the project happen.

Daniel Ashley said his company plans to spend about $1 million in renovations to make the Gallery Building suitable for its purposes.

He said they’ve already received a verbal commitment for financing for the renovation project.

UltraCamp, which provides management services for camps, employs 14 people.
