SOUTH HAVEN — Visiting Dowagiac was swept by South Haven in its Wolverine Conference West Division opener Thursday.

The Rams defeated the Chieftains 7-1 and 8-0.

Dowagiac finished with just three hits in the opening game, including a pair of singles by Mason Hojara.

Brenden Dudley took the loss as he allowed four runs on four hits with four strikeouts in three innings of work. Austin Jones and Nick Foote also took the mound for the Chieftains.

In the nightcap, Dowagiac was held to one hit.
