Buchanan blanks Brandywine for Comstock title

COMSTOCK — Two teams expected to slug it out for the BCS Athletic Conference West Division title this season gave fans a preview in the title game of the Comstock Invitational Saturday.

Buchanan blanked defending BCS champion Brandywine 8-0 to bring home the Comstock title.

Maddie Hemphill tossed a two-hitter for the Bucks, who improved to 3-0 on the season.

Sammi Luzadre had three hits, while Chelsey Bennett and Jayla Bibbs both singled and doubled. Morgan Richer and Jade Moser both had a home run.

The Bobcats defeated host Comstock 16-7 in the first game before defeating Kalkaska 11-3 in the semifinals.

Hannah Hadden (2-0) picked up the victory against the Colts.

Hadden, Makenna Hartline, Kelly Harper and Morgan Crocker all doubled.

Hartline also hit a home run.

Against Kalkaska, Crocker (2-0) was the winning pitcher.

Justin Sater tripled, Harper and Ayralynn Lasane had a pair of doubles each. Hartline also doubled for the Bobcats.
