Host Buchanan had more hits than Coloma, but ended up with a split against the Comets in non-conference baseball Friday.

The Bucks (1-1) won the first game 3-2, but dropped the nightcap 7-6.

Buchanan scored in the first on an error, a sacrifice fly by Chad Adkerson and a groundout by Gavin Morris.

The Bucks would not relinquish the lead as Coloma was unable to weather a three-run first inning deficit.

Justin Pullins took the loss for Coloma. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out three and allowed three runs.

Even though Brenden Collins allowed five runs over six innings he still recorded the victory. Collins struck out one, walked two and gave up 10 hits.

Dalton Riddle ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.

Coloma jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Chase Potter singled to ignite Coloma’s offense. A single by Caleb Hester then moved Potter from first to second. Brad Page singled, scoring Potter. The scoreboard lit up again for Coloma when Hester scored on a fielder’s choice.

Coloma went up for good in the second, scoring four runs on a fielder’s choice.
