Those looking to have a fun night out while supporting a worthwhile cause might want to reserve a spot at a special event called “Niles Band Then and Now.”

The event is scheduled to take place from 6 to 11 p.m. April 11 at the Niles Elks Lodge, 1322 Canal St., Niles.

Tickets are $35 per person and there is limited seating. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Proceeds support the Niles Community Schools band program.

The event will feature live music from The Sixth Generation, silent auction, raffle, cash bar and catered dinner from The Skillet Restaurant.

The Niles Vikings band is in need of funding for:

• Rain Coats for Uniforms — to protect uniforms for longer lasting wear

• Music Stands — nearly 150 damaged music stands are in need of replacement

• 250 new band uniforms — to replace aging, tattered and torn uniforms and ensure proper fit

• Instruments — need additional instruments to loan short-term to allow musicians to experience or upgrade to something other than a beginner instrument.

• Festival costs — to cover travel and registration costs so that students may demonstrate their knowledge and skills and be professionally judged.

• Other — new audio equipment, trailer for parades and festivals, iPads to introduce students to 21st Center skills using eMusic.
