MISHAWAKA — Emily Gaines scored 15 of her game-high 19 points in the first quarter and visiting Niles held on for a 49-42 non-conference girls basketball victory over Mishawaka Marian Tuesday night.

Jazmin Brann scored 12 points and Elyse Zimmerman added nine to help Niles gain its ninth win of the season.

Greta Meixel paced Marian with 17 points and Anna Barnard chipped in 13 points.
