Members of the Brandywine High School varsity and junior varsity basketball teams participated in a food drop with Granger Community Church on Saturday. Coach Nathan Knapp said players helped box up food at the church before delivering it to residents at the Niles Housing Commission.

“We talk to the kids a lot about helping out and this was something they wanted to do,” he said. “I am just real proud of them for putting in time on a Saturday, showing up and giving back.”

It was the team’s first community service project this year.

“It was a great team-bonding experience that hopefully brought them closer together,” Knapp said. “It also teaches them that there is more to life than just basketball.”
