Bobcats fall in double OT to Class A Kalamazoo Central

KALAMAZOO — It took a pair of overtimes to decide the outcome between unbeaten Brandywine and host Kalamazoo Central in girls basketball Monday night.

The Bobcats rallied twice before falling to the Maroon Giants 68-65.
Down big in the opening quarter, Brandywine trailed 20-12 at the break and then outscored Kalamazoo Central 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 31-28 halftime lead.
The Maroon Giants (9-0) got the best of the Bobcats (9-1) in the third quarter to reclaim the lead, 46-40, heading to the fourth.
A seesaw battle ended up in a 57-57 deadlock at the end of regulation and with both teams struggling for points in the first overtime, had to settle for a 60-60 tie.
Kalamazoo Central’s Anasia Harris scored with 20 seconds remaining and Arjanae Morgan’s free throw gave the Maroon Giants a three-point lead with nine seconds remaining.
Toshanea Owens led Kalamazoo Central with 18 points, while Harris finished with 16 and Morgan 13.
Brandywine’s Emily Erwin led all scorers with 19 points. The Bobcats also got 15 points from Makenna Hartline and 12 from Jaleesa Garner.
