Glenn sparks Vikings in win over Wildcats

Niles senior Ra’Quon Glenn picked the perfect time to have a big night as he helped lead the Vikings to a 76-65 win over Mattawan in a SMAC non-divisional boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Glenn hit 8-of-10 shots from the field and was 2-of-4 from the free throw line to finish with a team-high 20 points.

The win squared the Vikings’ record at 3-3.

Niles led at every quarter break, but needed a big fourth quarter to put the game away.

Leading just 54-53 heading into the final eight minutes, the Vikings erupted for 22 points.

Niles trailed the Wildcats (4-2) 58-56 early in the final quarter before Glenn sparked a 13-3 run that allowed the Vikings to put the game away.

Gabe Stokes had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings, who also got 10 points from Gavin Rasler.

Darek Ditto led all scores with 25 points for Mattawan, which also got 20 points from Gabe Pelak.
