Niles superintendent interviews this week

The effort to find a new superintendent for Niles Community Schools continues this week.

The board of education is in the process of interviewing six finalists to replace interim Supt. Michael Lindley, who has been filling in since former Supt. Richard Weigel resigned in February.

On Monday, the board interviewed two candidates:

• Dr. Christopher Daughtry, superintendent of Central Noble Community Schools in Albion, Indiana

• Dr. Terry Barker, superintendent School City of Mishawaka, Mishawaka, Indiana

The board is scheduled to interview two more candidates Wednesday evening. They are:

• 6 p.m. — Dr. Daniel Applegate, assessment and accreditation coordinator, Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana

• 7:15 p.m. — Dr. Joseph Majchrowicz, retired superintendent, Burnham SD 154.5, Burnham, Illinois

The final two candidates will be interviewed Thursday. They are:

• 6 p.m. — Michael Pettibone, retired superintendent, Adams Central Community Schools, Monroe, Indiana

• 7:15 p.m. — Monte Moffett, assistant superintendent for operations and human resources Duneland School Corporation, Chesterton, Indiana

A second round of interviews will be held Jan. 12 and Jan. 14. All interviews will be conducted in public at the district’s administrative center, located at 111 Spruce St., Niles.
