Women sentenced for thefts at Walmart

A pair of women caught stealing while at the Niles Walmart learned their sentences Monday in Berrien County Trial Court.

Angela Fay Scott, 38, of Buchanan, received a sentence of 270 days in jail and three years on probation Monday in Berrien County Trial Court on one count of first-degree retail fraud.

Scott was caught stealing more than $350 worth of items from the retail store in September, according to court documents. The store’s loss prevention team witnessed Scott placing items in a shopping cart and pushing it out the entrance without paying.

Scott was also banned from entering a retail store as a condition of her probation.

Also Monday, former Walmart employee Brittany Stubblefield was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and three years on probation on one count of larceny in a building.

Stubblefield, 27, took $258 from the wallet of another Wal-Mart employee Oct. 30, according to court documents. Video footage showed the Niles resident take the victim’s coat, which contained the wallet, into the store bathroom. Stubblefield later admitted to police that she took money out of the wallet while in the bathroom.

Also Monday, Nicole Renee Camp, 26, of Niles, was sentenced to 40 days in jail and 14 months on probation on one count of third-degree home invasion.

According to court documents, Camp stole a safe containing prescription medication from a residence on Baldwin Drive Oct. 31. Camp admitted she took the safe, but was unable to open it.

Camp must also successfully complete a drug treatment program as a condition of her probation.
