Finalists chosen for Niles superintendent job

The Niles Community Schools Board of Education has announced six finalists for the position of superintendent of schools and has set dates for interviews.

Current Supt. Michael Lindley has been serving as an interim superintendent after former Supt. Richard Weigel resigned in February.

The finalists and interview dates are as follows:

Jan. 5

• 6 p.m. — Dr. Christopher Daughtry, superintendent Central Noble Community Schools, Albion, Indiana

• 7:15 p.m. — Dr. Terry Barker, superintendent School City of Mishawaka, Mishawaka, Indiana

Jan. 7

• 6 p.m. — Dr. Daniel Applegate, assessment and accreditation coordinator, Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana

• 7:15 p.m. — Dr. Joseph Majchrowicz, retired superintendent, Burnham SD 154.5, Burnham, Illinois

Jan. 8

6 p.m. — Michael Pettibone, retired superintendent, Adams Central Community Schools, Monroe, Indiana

7:15 p.m. — Monte Moffett, assistant superintendent for operations and human resources Duneland School Corporation, Chesterton, Indiana

Second round interviews will be held Jan. 12 and Jan. 14. All interviews will be conducted in public at the administrative center, 111 Spruce St., Niles.
