College football ‘final four’ is just right

The first college football playoff will have the correct four teams in the “final four.”

Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State all deserve a shot to play for the national championship.

Sorry TCU and Baylor, since your conference could not decide on a single champion, you are left on the outside looking in.

I have no problem with that either.

Had the Big 12 decided to play a championship game and award the title to one of those two teams, I would agree you have a complaint.

But since they did not, stop the griping and concentrate on winning your bowl game.

I really wanted to see Alabama face Ohio State in one semifinal and Florida State against Oregon in the other game, but because the outcome is still the same, I am fine with it.

Since about midway through the season I have wanted to see Alabama face Oregon.

I am hoping both teams get the job done so that the championship game will feature those two teams.

I am not a big Nick Saban fan, although I will admit he is probably the best coach in the game right now, so I will be pulling for the Ducks to destroy the Crimson Tide in the title game.

I am also interested in seeing what crazy uniform Nike comes up with for Oregon to wear in the playoffs.

I give kudos to the selection committee for getting it right. Since they were limited to four teams, they did a great job pairing up the best four teams in the country.

If they expand the playoffs to eight games in the future, I think we would have seen an even better tournament with the likes of TCU and Baylor in the mix.

But for now, I am satified with what I have and I am looking forward to the games.
