A train has parked at the Niles Amtrak station after a reported stabbing on board the train in Niles that injured multiple people, according to CBS News.

Police were called to N. Sixth and Pokagon Street for a reported stabbing around 7 p.m.

Caitlin Capri, a Chicago native on board the train headed to Dowagiac, said she was sitting five to six feet away from the alleged perpetrator when the stabbing occurred.

Capri said the train had been stopped for about five minutes longer than normal when she saw an African American male lift up his arm and hand and bring it down on someone in a seat. At first, Capri thought the victim was an Amtrak employee, but then she saw what appeared to be a blade or a knife in the man’s hand.

When she saw the weapon, Carpris said she turned and ran off the train.

Capri said that she heard others saying that there were a total of three people who were injured, but she only witnessed one stabbing herself.

Other passengers report the first victim was the conductor on the train.

The conditions of those injured are unknown at this time.

Police report that a press conference will be held soon with more information.
