Thanks to a generous donation from Lion Patrick McFarland and his wife Arlene, there is a brand new “Project KidSight Trailer” to attend outdoor health fairs, festivals and events during the spring, summer and fall months.

Lion McFarland and his wife purchased the trailer in memory of a late friend and Lion member William (Bill) Kowalski, who brought Project KidSight to Kalamazoo from Tennesee.

Through his work with the Lions Club, Bill was a huge supporter and spokesperson for Project KidSight.

“His concern was that Project KidSight carries on as a Lions Project and there is no doubt in our minds that Bill is watching over PKS and grinning from ear to ear with this amazing new trailer,” Lions President Tanda Stiffler said.

Several obstacles hindered screening this past summer because of the infrared lighting, so McFarland of the South Haven Black River Lions Club and Dave Stiffler of the Edwardsburg Lions Club started talking about alternative ways to get kids screened. McFarland thought if Dave Stiffler was willing to keep the new trailer in his barn and bring it to the events with his truck that he was just going to purchase the Lions of Michigan a new trailer.

After several weeks for the order the trailer was done and picked up. Dave Stiffler worked with a local graphics designer Shane Barlow of Signworks in Edwardsburg as they fine-tuned the brilliant colors on the trailer, which now is a huge statement to everyone on the road with what the Lions of Michigan Foundation, Project KidSight is all about.

All sides of the trailer have colorful graphics along with a telephone number and website information. The inside is just as nice.

Lion Amy Anderson (Leo Advisor of the Edwardsburg Lions Club) said it just must be “kid friendly” and that it is. The inside is a jungle theme with little monkeys and other animals throughout the scenery.

A trip to Lansing’s Lions of Michigan Foundation Board meeting on Saturday, Nov. 1 was the first preview for Dave Stiffler and the entire foundation board to see the Project KidSight trailer.
