BUCHANAN — 1st Source Bank has partnered with local attorneys and non-profit groups to offer the public free confidential consultations and simple wills if the wills include one or more charitable bequests.

Attorneys will provide these services free of charge by appointment from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 and Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation at 111 Days Ave. in Buchanan.

The service is available to anyone who currently does not have a will and wishes to make one that includes at least one charitable bequest. It is provided through Legacy Partners, an initiative of 1st Source Bank in partnership with local attorneys and non-profit groups to provide valuable estate planning and information to the public.

“1st Source has organized this event to help people plan for the future and make a charitable gift that can have a lasting impact on the community,” said Pat McCullough, vice president and trust officer with 1st Source Bank. “We encourage people to make a will because without one Michigan law will dictate how and to whom their estate will be distributed which may not be in keeping with their last wishes.”

Legacy Partners has named Sept. 29 to Oct. 3 “Leave a Legacy Week,” and is also providing the free service at locations in Elkhart, Fulton and Kosciusko counties in Indiana.

The Buchanan event is made possible by the Salvation Army of Niles, in conjunction with 1st Source and the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation.

Attorney Jim Mollison will contribute his time on Sept. 29, and Attorney John Colip will volunteer his services on Oct. 1.

Appointments can be made by calling Pat McCullough of 1st Source Bank’s Personal Asset Management Group in Niles at (269) 687-6808.

1st Source Corporation, parent company of 1st Source Bank, has assets of $4.93 billion and is the largest locally controlled financial institution headquartered in the northern Indiana-southwestern Michigan area.
