Ward’s six touchdowns lead Bobcats to victory

CENTREVILLE — Marty Ward Jr. had a career night with 245 yards rushing and six touchdowns as visiting Brandywine steamrolled Centreville 69-35 in a BCS Athletic Conference non-divisional game Friday night.

The win improved the Bobcats to 3-0 on the season.

Ward scored on runs of 5, 11, 26, 19, 8 and 45 yards. He also added a 2-point conversion.

Brandywine blew the game open in the opening quarter, scoring 28 points. The Bobcats led 48-13 at the half.

Andrew Duckett threw for a pair of touchdowns as he hit Vinnie Peel from 33 yards out and Charlie Rodriguez from 32 yards out. Duckett also ran for a 53-yard score and Peel ran for a 6-yard touchdown.

Brandywine finished the night with 573 yards in total offense, including 454 yards rushing.
