SOUTH HAVEN — The Dowagiac cross country team was swept by host South Haven and Sturgis at a Wolverine tri-meet Tuesday.

The Chieftain boys team was defeated by the Rams 20-39 and by the Trojans 16-47. The girls team was defeated by both South Haven and Sturgis 15-50.

DeYonte Sullivan was the top finisher for the boys team, while Katy Murphy was the first across the finish line for the girls.

“The team is focused on individual improvement,” Dowagiac assistant coach Doug Pearson said. “All five girls improved their individual times and five of the six boys ran their best times of the year.”
