Buchanan will host the inaugural Tri State Cross Country Invitational Sept. 6.

The cross country race will be held at the RedBud BMX, the nationally renowned motocross track.

Division 1 and 2 teams set to compete are Edwardsburg, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Niles, Mishawaka, Jenison Lakeshore, St. Joseph, Bay City Central and Mishawaka Marian.

Division 3 and 4 teams entered are Brandywine, Lawton, New Buffalo, White Pigeon, Cassopolis, Bridgman, Lake Michigan Catholic, Buchanan and Watervliet.

There will also be a middle school race. Expected to compete are Berrien Springs, Watervliet, Ring Lardner, Lawton, Edwardsburg, Lake Michigan Catholic, Buchanan, Lakeshore, New Buffalo, Brandywine and St. Joe Upton.

Here is the race schedule:

• Division 3-4 boys varsity — 10 a.m.

• Division 3-4 girls varsity — 10:30 a.m.

• Division 3-4 boys JV — 11 a.m.

• Division 3-4 girls JV — 11:30 a.m.

• Middle school boys — noon

• Middle school girls — 12:20 p.m.

• Middle school sixth grade — 12:40 p.m.

• Division 1-2 boys — 1 p.m.

• Division 1-2 girls — 1:30 p.m.

• Division 1-2 boys JV — 2 p.m.

• Division 1-2 girls JV — 2:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 for individuals or $20 per vehicle.
