Two former foreign exchange students from the Edwardsburg High School Class of 1964 returned last week to join their former classmates at their 50th class reunion.

The two ladies were Ursula Beckendorf from Germany and Ritva Lise-Lott-Rautio of Finland. They were able to stay with families in Edwardsburg and were very excited to see their former classmates again.

They were able to attend all of the planned activities and shared stories of their lives of the last 50 years since leaving Edwardsburg High School and going back home.

Over 200 alumni and guests attended the annual All School Reunion hosted by the class of 1974. A potluck lunch was served.

The oldest attendee was Loyal Lane, who is 100 years old and graduated in the class of 1932. The youngest attendee was 46 years old. The largest group in attendance was from the 1950s. One attendee stated that “the class of ‘64 was an awesome class  and they really enjoyed their time together.”

Next year’s reunion will be the third Sunday in August and the class of 1975 will be the hosts honoring the class of 1965. There were numerous get-togethers over the weekend of other classes celebrating their return to Edwardsburg.

At the conclusion of the lunch many attendees moved to the Edwardsburg Museum for ice cream and to witness the awarding of the Dr. Sweetland Community Service Award to Edwardsburg resident Eloise Claire.
