Richard Stark

Richard Stark

Richard’s life began on July 13, 1940, in Dowagiac, the son of Lewis and Pauline (Huston) Peoples. He was united in marriage to Nancy Carpenter on Feb. 20, 1960, at Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac. Richard worked for National Copper in Dowagiac. He loved sports, especially when his grandkids were playing, the New York Yankees, San Francisco 49ers or Michigan State. In his early days he enjoyed bowling, golf and camping. As time rolled on his passions became staying at home or visiting the casino.

Richard’s greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Nancy, who passed away on March 5, 2009; his two sons Ronnie (Stacie) Stark and Larry (Becky) Stark, both of Dowagiac; his four grandsons Keith, David, Derek, Garrett; and two sisters Robin (Walt) Peters of Dowagiac and Carol Sturgill of Tennessee.

Richard passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, an infant son Richard, a brother Larry Stark and a sister Patty Wesaw.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m., at which time a celebration of life will began. Pastor Stacey Wilder, from the Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac, will officiate at the service. There will be a private graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac on Wednesday.
