Karen Cummins
Karen Jean Cummins, 75, of Niles, died on Monday, July 21, 2014, at her home following an extended illness. She was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Niles to Fayette and Edytha (Feather) Truesdell.
Karen was a Niles High School graduate and studied at Lake Michigan College. She was a member of the Niles Garden Club and the Niles Service League. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, travelling, and tending her flower garden.
On Oct. 24, 1955, in Niles, Karen married Elsworth Cummins. He survives along with their children, Terrie Cummins of Niles and Mark (Ann) Cummins of DeWitt, Michigan and grandchildren, Cody, Kaylan, Sam and Nick. Karen is also survived by her brother, Kenny Truesdell, of Niles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Truesdell.
The funeral service for Karen Cummins will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Karen may be made to the American Cancer Services, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
