Wilbur Walton Dick, 89, passed away July 19, 2014, at Crown Point in Stevensville.

Funeral services with Military Rites will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Coloma United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Duffield and Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Memorials may be made to the church.

Wilbur was born in Niles, Michigan on March 17, 1925, to Harry and Hazel Dick. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald Dick and George Dick. Wilbur served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After earning a B.A. at Albion College, he married Marjorie Rogers in 1949. Later he earned Masters degrees in Music Education and Counseling from WMU and the U of M.

He was band director, teacher and counselor at Coloma, Watervliet, and Wyandotte Public School systems from 1952 to the mid 1980’s. Wilbur was the director of the Moonlighters Band and also belonged to the Twin City Camera Club. Wilbur worked at Tyler and Kawneer Corporations in Niles, and then for CIT Corporation for thirteen years. After the death of his beloved Marjorie, he married Muriel Meahl and they enjoyed traveling together extensively.

He is survived by four step-children, Mickey Meahl, Darren Meahl, Susie Grace and Patricia Lyndale, and four nieces and a nephew, Becky Browder, Martha Southworth, Mary Czarnecki, Jane Kerr and William Dick. Wilbur will be greatly missed for his great humor, his deep faith in the Lord, his wonderful stories, his cheerful attitude and loving heart.
