Adam Burtsfield was recently hired to serve as the school’s assistant principal after Joe Racht left the building to become principal at Eastside Connections School.

Burtsfield will back up principal David Eichenberg.

“A few years ago, I had a very positive interaction with Mr. Eichenberg. We share similar ideas and beliefs regarding educating students and creating a successful school,” he said. “I am excited to be partnered with someone who has the same vision and beliefs that I do.”

Burtsfield most recently worked as an assistant principal in the

Community Schools of Frankfort. Prior to that, he was a second-grade teacher and wrestling coach at Elkhart Community Schools.

Supt. Michael Lindley said Burtsfield was selected from a pool of 65 applicants. Interviews were done by a group of about 15 people, including parents, specialists and administrators.

“Everyone felt very comfortable with him,” Lindley said. “He was the first choice of a committee and we think he will do a nice job.”

Burtsfield resides in West Lafayette, Indiana, and is in the process of relocating closer to Niles. He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in elementary education at Purdue University and a Master of Science in Education at Indiana University South Bend.
