The Dowagiac golf team will be in search of a spot in the Division 3 state finals as they compete at the regional today.

The Chieftains, who finished second at last week’s district, will be competing at The Medalist in Olivet.

Dowagiac is no stranger to that course having played several regionals there over the past few years.

“We are thinking if we shoot as good as we did at districts (331) we will have a shot,” first-year Dowagiac coach Bob Turner said. “I would feel much more comfortable around 320.”

Turner said that his top three golfers can all shoot several strokes better than they did at the district.

“Christan (Hess) thinks he can do five or six strokes better,” he said. “Andrew Wild can shoot two to five strokes better and Jordan Hagemann can shave off a stroke or two.”
