The Cassopolis Board of Education voted 5-0 to not renew the contract of high school principal Bob Sieko at a special meeting at Squires Elementary Monday night.

Trustee Jeremy Carlisle was absent from the meeting.

Sieko declined comment in April and did not return the Vigilant’s attempt to reach him by phone and email Wednesday.

The board also accepted a bid of $36,760 from Sign Works in Edwardsburg for a new electronic sign at Sam Adams Elementary.

Superintendent Tracy Hertsel said that the district received two bids and this was was a bit higher, but urged the board to go with Sign Works because it was a local business.

The board approved the measure, which is the final step in completing the Sam Adams project with a vote of 5-0.

The board hired Desiree Mooney, secondary homebound teacher for two hours per week.

They also hired Chelsie Baucus, Cristy Ernst, Lindsay Gorham-Pflug, Cheryl Graham, Kelly Gustafson, Sarah Mason, Cheryl Rogers, Debora Stermer and Angela Vega as elementary Title I summer school teachers.

In another action, the board adopted the Lewis Cass Intermediate School District budget for the 20-14-15 year.
