Dowagiac edges Three Rivers 8-6

THREE RIVERS — The Dowagiac softball team needed began its tune up for the post season with an 8-6, nine-inning win over host Three Rivers Monday.

The Chieftains (22-11) scores two runs in the top of the ninth and then held on for the victory.

Dowagiac and Three Rivers played nine-inning game as the two teams begin preparation for next week’s state tournament.

Sabrina Ruiz (9-6) went the distance as she tossed a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Dowagiac finished with 13 hits, led by Alyssa Allen who was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Mickie Kiggins was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Riley Daly and Megan Soderbloom both had two hits.

Kourtney Mitchell added a double.
