Barn Swallow Theatre, located at 22334 U.S. 12 East of Edwardsburg, Michigan is sponsoring its second annual call for original plays.

The competition is open to playwrights of any age and submissions can be in any category — drama, comedy or musical.

Submitted plays will be read by the New Play Committee of the Theatre and four of the submitted plays will be chosen as part of our public presentation on Saturday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m.

At this time one play will be chosen as the prizewinner.

Each of the four playwrights will have 20 minutes to present a portion or portions of their play in their desired format.  The winning play will be chosen by a combination of an audience vote, the New Play Committee and the Barn Swallow Board of Governors.

Bob Kronemyer of Elkhart, Ind. won last year’s competition with his play “Reference” chosen by a very close vote.

This play will be presented by Barn Swallow Theatre on Oct. 16, 17, 18, and 19.
