Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital is taking the wraps off its new rehabilitation unit.

An open house to showcase the new facility will be held from 3-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 7. The opening of the new Rehabilitation Department comes months following a September fire in the hospital’s Comstock building that damaged the area, which housed outpatient rehabilitation (physical and occupational therapy).

“It is a new and improved facility with greater square footage and a larger rehabilitation staff that’s committed to a ‘team approach’ to treatment,” said John Ryder, chief operating officer, Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “We are pleased to introduce this facility along with a new range of treatment that enhances the quality of patient care for the community.”

The new and improved facility includes:

• Increased square footage

• More individual rehabilitation treatment rooms

• Dedicated occupational therapy treatment room

• New layout of gym equipment that adds to the ease and flow of treatment

• Permanent set up for specialty services such as Functional Screenings

At the open house, existing and prospective patients will be able to tour the new facility, watch demonstrations on physical therapy, and mingle with rehabilitation department staff. The Rehabilitation Department also will host a cupcake bake war from 3-7 p.m., where persons touring the new facility will be able to judge the best tasting and the best decorated cupcakes.
