BATTLE CREEK — Visiting Niles split a Big 16 Conference non-divisional baseball doubleheader with Battle Creek Lakeview Wednesday.

The Vikings (6-5) scored two runs in the top of the eighth and then held on for 7-6 win over Lakeview in the opening game.

Wyatt Thornton picked up the win in relief of starter Taylor Weldy, who doubled for the Vikings.

Lakeview won the nightcap 6-3 in a game halted due to darkness after six innings.

Connor Glick had a double for the Vikings.
