Rodgers breaks school, meet record in high jump

PAW PAW — Crieona Rodgers and Nijah Russell were triple winners at the Paw Paw Invitational Saturday.

Rodgers captured the high jump (5-6), long jump (15-4.25) and was a member of the winning 400-meter relay team along with Russell, Niesha Douglas and Angel Parker. Her high jump height was a new Dowagiac school and Paw Paw meet record.

Russell won the 100 with a time of 12.54 and the 200 with a time of 27.42.

The Chieftains tied host Paw Paw for second place behind Vicksburg.

Cierra Smith placed in both the shot put and discus, while Rosadio Murray placed in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

Dowagiac’s boys finished sixth.

Tristan Howard and Kenny Cremeans both medals in the shot put and discus respectively. Kyle Solloway was second in the long jump with a leap of 18-0.5 and second in the 200-meters with a time of 23.3.
