Dowagiac baseball swept by Shamrocks

BERRIEN SPRINGS — The Dowagiac baseball team tasted defeat for the first time this season as host Berrien Springs swept a Wolverine Conference West Division doubleheader Friday night.

The Chieftains dropped the opener 6-3 after committing seven errors.

Dowagiac led 5-0 in the nightcap before the Shamrocks rallied for a 9-7 win.

Austin Broda homered for the Chieftains, who also got doubles from Matt Smith and Zach Williams in the opening game.

Aubrey Huston, Williams and Broda all doubled in the nightcap.

Dowagiac is now 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the West Division.
