Vikings open season with sweep

COLOMA — The wait is over for the Niles baseball team.

The Vikings finally got a chance to open their season in Coloma Saturday afternoon and Niles took full advantage of it with a sweep of the Comets.

Tate Brawley had three hits as the Vikings won the opening game 6-1. In the second game, Austin Lintz, Brawley and Gaige Nichols combined on a three-hitter as Niles completed the sweep with a a 10-1 rout.

Cody Thornton picked up the win in the opening game with relief help from Tyler Clutter. Tate Rudlaff had a double for the Vikings, who finished with 11 hits.

Lintz earned the win in the second game as he made the start for Niles.

Lintz helped his own cause with a double, while Connor Glick also doubled.
