Bucks split season opener with Shamrocks

The Buchanan baseball team opened its season with a split against former Lakeland conference foe Berrien Springs.

The Shamrocks won the opening game 7-2 before the Bucks rallied to take the second contest 6-3.

In the opener, Kyle Rago tossed a four-hitter for the Shamrocks.

Buchanan’s hits came from Alex Leiter, Jarrett Thomas, who took the loss on the mound, Chad Adkerson and Dalton Riddle.

Christian Hall picked up the victory in relief of starter Riddle. Hall worked the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts.

Leither went 3-for-4 with a double for Buchanan, which also got three hits from Trey Morgan and a double from Adkerson.
