Two Niles residents, including an 8-year-old girl, have been injured after their snowmobile collided with another vehicle Saturday afternoon, according to officials with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Both 33-year-old Keith Peterson and his daughter, Emily, were traveling on Bame Avenue in Howard Township on their snowmobile when Randall Womble, 60, of Niles, pulled his vehicle out his driveway and hit them. Officers were called into investigate the crash at around 2:04 p.m.

Both Pertersons were taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment. Officers believe that they were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Womble was uninjured by the accident, and it is believed that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time. Investigators believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
