Second half rally lifts Bucks past Chieftains

BUCHANAN — Host Buchanan rallied in the second half to make Gabe Miller’s coaching debut a success Tuesday night.

The Bucks trailed by one (17-16) at halftime, but outscored the Chieftains 30-14 in the second half to pull away to a 46-31 non-conference victory.

Jade Mosier and Brooke Wesner scored 14 and 13 points respectively for Buchanan, while Brianna King added eight and Madison Prillwitz 7.

Dowagiac (0-1) was led by Rayven Brown and Crieona Rogers, both of whom scored nine points. Freshman Taylor Hulett chipped in with six points and 12 rebounds.

Buchanan (1-0) will travel to Niles Thursday night, while Dowagiac will open up Wolverine Conference West Division play by hosting Berrien Springs Friday night.
