Those looking for a great deal on a book should head to the Niles District Library this weekend.

Friends of the Niles District Library is holding a special book sale during the weekend of the Four Flags Area Apple Festival weekend.  The sale will take place in the lower level of the library between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

More than 10,000 books will be available for rock-bottom prices. Hardcover books will be priced at $1, while paperback books will be priced at 25 cents, children’s books 10 cents and DVDs $1.

Nancy Studebaker, library director, said they have a large selection of children’s books.

Members of the Friends of the Niles District Library will qualify for a “two-for-one” deal during the sale. Anyone who is not a “friend” may join on Saturday and receive this discount. Membership is $5.

Friends’ regular book sales take place from 10-noon the first Saturday of each month. This is a change from the former twice a month schedule, which means the next sale following the special Apple Festival sale will be on Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Friends of the Niles District Library is an organization that exists to provide service and funds to support our local library. Hosting the monthly book sales is their main method of raising funds to be used for specific needs of the library. Everyone is encouraged to join and assist in this effort.

All proceeds will benefit the Niles District Library. Book sales in the past have raised funds to purchase audio books, children’s books and the youth costume contest.
