Distracted driver overturns in LaGrange

CASSOPOLIS — A crash Sunday night on O’Keefe Road, north of Shurte Street in LaGrange Township, injured a Hartford man distracted by his cell phone.

Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled the personal-injury crash at 11 p.m.

The driver was identified as 23-year-old Efrain Soto from Hartford.

He reported he was traveling north on O’Keefe when he got distracted by his cell phone, ran off the roadway and overturned his vehicle several times.

Soto was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Cass Fire, Life Care Ambulance and Cassopolis Police Department assisted deputies at the scene.

Seat belts were not worn at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
