Looking Inside Dowagiac Schools/DUHS

With the end of another busy and exciting school year, Dowagiac Union High School immediately is thinking of the future and looking to the summer to improve opportunities for Dowagiac youth.

The week of June 10, Mr. Brooks, the Dowagiac band director, and the Dowagiac Band Boosters continued the long tradition of Band Camp.

This week-long, intensive experience prepares band members for the rigors of the fall

marching season.

It is because of all of their hard work that our band brings home award after award.

We look forward to hearing the band this fall as part of the Friday night experience in Dowagiac. If you are interested in supporting the Dowagiac music program, please contact the high school office for more information.

Dowagiac Union High School is also offering summer school beginning June 17.

This long-running program is offered as a credit recovery program to allow students to keep on track with their peers and start the next school year with a fresh start.

Dowagiac Union High School has committed to continuing its focus on freshman success for

the following year.

Our emphasis here is part of a long-term approach to build on the academic strengths of our community. Our first year of freshman focus has been an unequivocal success, greatly improving the grade outcomes of many students.

Making students successful is a team effort, and the leadership and staff at DUHS are grateful for the support of the community, whether from various boosters, community organizations or individual parents.

We are continually looking for new and creative ways to build upon and celebrate the success of our students. We welcome the community in aiding us in celebrating the amazing things our students are doing.
