BP gas station robbed

An armed robbery occurred at the BP gas station, 101 N. Front St., on Wednesday about 11:40 p.m., Dowagiac Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson reports.

The suspect reportedly entered the store and threatened the clerk with a weapon.

After forcing the clerk to open the cash register, the suspect fled from the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect then exited the store and ran from the area.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt.

Dowagiac officers were assisted by Pokagon tribal police.

This case remains under investigation.
