The Niles softball team swept a pair of Big 16 West Division games from visiting St. Joseph Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings won both games by a score of 6-1.

“I thought we played pretty good tonight,” Niles coach Ryan Frontczak said. “Our girls did a lot of things right tonight. We played mistake free ball. Our girls still have to work on some hitting now though. We have to finish with runners in scoring position. I feel we get girls on and just aren’t getting them in right now.

“I thought our girls are putting things together. We just keep getting better as the season continues. Our pitchers did a great job of hitting spots today also and we played good defense.”

Molly VanDeKeere picked up the victory in the first game, while Tala Gentry was the winning pitcher in the nightcap.

Niles flexed its muscles at the plate with three home runs and a double.

Gentry, Oliva Jordan and Courtney Ankrapp all homered, while Sarah Cramer doubled.
