A gas leak caused firefighters to close down a portion of Front and Main streets in Niles Tuesday afternoon.

Niles City Fire Chief Larry Lamb said there was a broken gas line at 105 E. Main St. shortly after 4 p.m. Firefighters were able to shut off the gas line quickly as the valve was below the break.

Streets were reopened after about 15 minutes.
