Niles ninth at Sturgis Invitational

CENTREVILLE – The Niles golf team finished ninth and 12th at the Sturgis Invitational at Island Hills Friday.

Marshall was the team champion after shooting a 316. Schoolcraft was second with a 331 and Marshall II was third with a 345.

Battle Creek Lakeview (350) and Kalamazoo Hackett (368) rounded out the top five.

Niles I finished with a score of 386, while Niles II finished with a 418.

Marshall’s Aaron McCoy earned medalist honors with a 76.

Niles I got a trio of 96s from Quinn Brawley, Christian Ryall-Shoup and Andrew Mann. Nolan Duda and Spencer Fuller both shot 98.

Niles II was led by Riley Delinski’s 103. Austin Pierson shot 104, Austin Froeberg 105, Grant Yearling 106 and Andrew Berendsen 107.

 

Gull Lake Invitational

RICHLAND – Niles placed 18th at the Gull Lake Invitational Thursday.

Battle Creek Lakeview won the team title with a 293. Portage Central was second at 317, Marshall third at 319, St. Joseph fourth at 324 and Hackett fifth at 326.

The Vikings shot 390 as a team.

Lakeview’s Matt Garland earned medalist honors with a 72.

Josh Bell led Niles with a 92. Nick Borkowski shot 94, Fuller 97, Derek Dye 107 and Brawley 110.
