The Dowagiac track teams were swept in Wolverine Conference West Division meet action by visiting Three Rivers on what turned out to be a beautiful day to run Tuesday evening at Dowagiac Middle School.

The Chieftains boys team looked heavily outmanned and outmatched on the track and fell victim to the Wildcat runners to the tune of a 103-34 loss. The Dowagiac girls team, put up quite an effort by dominating the field events and winning a few track events, but in the end couldn’t outlast the Wildcats’ distance runners and wound up suffering a heartbreaking 67.5-60.5 setback.

Kenny Creameans picked up a pair of first place finishes in the discus and shot put for Dowagiac. Dontel Highsmith grabbed a win for the Chieftains in the long jump event and added second place finishes in the high jump, 100-meters, and 400-meter relay races.

Crieona Rodgers (long jump and high jump), Hazel Kennedy (shot put and discus), Nijah Russell (100- and 200-meters) and Angel Parker (100- and 300-meter hurdles) all scored a pair of first place finishes to help in the Chieftains’ efforts.

Dowagiac will hit the track again next Tuesday in Edwardsburg to take on the Eddies at 4:15p.m.
