Brandywine improves to 7-2

The Brandywine baseball team improved to 7-2 with a sweep of visiting River Valley Wednesday.

In the opener, River Valley didn’t put up much of a fight as Brandywine cruised to a blowout 11-1 win in six innings.

The Bobcats  scored four runs in the fourth on a two-run single by Mike Pancoast, a walk by Alex Walters and a bases loaded walk.

Kyle Duncan racked up three RBIs on one hit. He singled in the sixth inning.

Walters looked sharp on the mound. River Valley managed just two hits off of Walters, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out seven during his six innings of work.

In the second game, Brandywine jumped on River Valley early on its way to an 8-5 win, scoring four runs in the first inning.

Pancoast went 2-for-2 at the dish for the Bobcats. He singled in the third and fourth innings.

Matt Ammerman got the win for Brandywine. He allowed three runs over 2 1/3 innings. Ammerman struck out one, walked four and gave up two hits.

River Valley jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

It didn’t take long for the Bobcats  to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the third. Brandywine scored on an RBI single by Pancoast and an RBI single by Dom Stella.

The Bobcats  increased their lead with two runs in the fourth. A single by Duncan ignited the offense, bringing home Tanner Bourdon.
